Getting Started
Each THINKWARE dash cam comes with the main unit, a suction cup or adhesive mount, a cigarette lighter power cable, and a user manual. Some models may include additional accessories like a rear camera or GPS antenna.
1. Insert a compatible microSD card into the dash cam. 2. Mount the dash cam behind your rearview mirror. 3. Connect the power cable to your vehicle's 12V outlet. 4. Power on your vehicle to start the dash cam. 5. Follow the on-screen setup wizard to configure your preferences.
We recommend using a high-endurance microSD card specifically designed for dash cams. Cards with at least Class 10 or U3 speed rating are required. Check your product specifications for the maximum supported capacity, which varies by model.
Installation
The ideal position is behind or near the rearview mirror, centered on your windshield. This provides the best view while minimizing obstruction to your vision. Ensure the camera lens is within the windshield wiper area for clear footage in rain.
Basic installation using the cigarette lighter cable can be done yourself. However, for hardwire installation (required for parking mode), we recommend professional installation to ensure proper connection and avoid electrical issues.
Hardwiring connects your dash cam directly to your vehicle's electrical system, allowing it to receive power even when the engine is off. This is required for parking mode surveillance. If you want 24/7 protection, hardwiring is essential.
Troubleshooting
First, check that the power cable is properly connected and your vehicle is running. Try a different 12V outlet if available. If using a hardwire kit, verify the fuse connections. You may also need to format the SD card or try a different card.
Clean the camera lens with a soft cloth. Ensure your SD card has sufficient speed (Class 10 or U3). Check that the video resolution is set to the highest quality in settings. Position the camera to avoid reflections from the dashboard.
You can format the SD card through the dash cam menu (Settings > SD Card > Format) or using the THINKWARE mobile app. We recommend formatting the card every 2-4 weeks to maintain optimal performance.
Mobile Apps
Download the THINKWARE LINK app from the App Store or Google Play. Enable WiFi on your dash cam, then connect your phone to the dash cam's WiFi network. Open the app and follow the pairing instructions.
Yes, when connected via WiFi you can view real-time footage through the THINKWARE LINK app. For cloud-enabled models, you can also view live footage remotely through THINKWARE CONNECTED service.
